About Us

Ali.jpg

My name is Ali Sustar. I am so glad you are here! Thank you for considering me to join you on your healing journey. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) at CFMC. Originally from the beautiful state of Maine, I now call Charlotte home and am grateful to serve individuals and families in this community.

I work with children ages two and older, adolescents, young adults, and adult women. My approach is grounded in person-centered and child-centered play therapy, while thoughtfully integrating additional therapeutic techniques to meet each client’s unique needs. I believe that every individual has an innate capacity for growth, healing, and connection, and my goal is to provide a warm, safe, and supportive space where clients feel empowered to explore their inner world at their own pace.

I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents, shaped by my background as a Montessori preschool teacher, my formal training in play therapy, and my continued pursuit of certification as a Registered Play Therapist. I utilize creative, expressive, and developmentally appropriate methods—such as play, art, and experiential techniques—to help children and teens communicate in ways that feel natural and safe.

In addition to my work with children and teens, I enjoy supporting young adults and adult women experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. Additionally, I am available to support women through issues related to perinatal mental health, such as pregnancy and postpartum challenges. I strive to offer compassionate, relationally attuned care that honors each client’s story and lived experience.

Completing my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, I am happy to integrate faith in the therapy space, if desired and requested by clients. I welcome all clients, regardless of religion or spirituality, and will follow your lead when bringing any discussions of faith into the counseling space. Across all of my work, I value empathy, unconditional positive regard, creativity, and cultural humility. I believe healing occurs within safe and supportive relationships, and my role is to walk alongside clients as they discover their strengths, understand their emotions, and move toward greater wholeness and well-being.

Ali will be available to work with clients in-person and virtually in the state of North Carolina.

Ali's current rates for counseling services are $160 for the initial 90 minute intake appointment and $140 for all 55 minute appointments thereafter. â€‹
